MARKETING ... The One Strategy That Aways Works
Some Offline Strategies May Be Old-Fashion But They Work
THURSDAY
Today I want to share the one Marketing Strategy that always works. It doesn’t matter if you write Children’s Books, Fiction or Non-Fiction this strategy is successful. No matter what category, genre, or sub-genre if you engage in this activity you will find success.
I am talking about Direct Personal Sales. What I mean by that is you the author attending a book signing, a library or school association conference, a book or art or jazz or creative festival, a church, a public or private school, or a public library; where you have a table or speak about your author adventure or read to attendees (children or adults).

People are fascinated with AUTHORS! They want to know your story, how you get your ideas, or what your process is for writing and publishing. They are interested in what it feels like to hold your book in your hand or become a best-seller.
According to multiple surveys, anywhere from 80-85% of people want to write a book.
What most of them really want is the fame or respect they think comes from being a well-known author. It is possible that some have the false understanding that all authors make a lot of money writing and publishing books. Admittedly, some people do, but it is less than 5-10% who make enough money to quit their day jobs.
Unless you have a big list or fan following, have a large amount of money to invest in advertising or have marketing, promotion, traditional media, event or social media skills you probably will need to build multiple streams of income to actually make a living or become successful. I will discuss those additional streams of income in future publishing articles.
The exception to the rule is having a BIG BOLD AUDACIOUS GOAL, developing short and long-term plans, joining a group of authors, and finding a mentor or publishing partner to help you navigate and reach a higher level of success.
A side note … I recommend all authors have their own website and not just accounts on a particular social media or platform. You need to own your own online real estate with your name preferably, or your book title, or your company, if you plan to continue you author adventure as a career or entrepreneurial journey. You also always make more money when you sell yourself either directly or online.
Cheers to your marketing success, Liz
