Describe Your Perfect Reader In Detail
THE MORE YOU KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE THE MORE SUCCESS YOU WILL HAVE
Use the template above or create your own and write out a list of characteristics of your perfect READER, your ideal Audience (what in the publishing and marketing world we call an Avitar). We mentioned this in a previous article and now we want to expand on who could most benefit from your book.
List everything you know about this individual:
age
gender
ethnicity
education
income level
married, single, divorced
children, no children, empty nester
what is their profession or skills
where they live
where do they shop
what are their habits
what are their hobbies
how do they spend their free time
what social media platforms do they frequent
what source do they use for their news or information
and anything else you can think of
that will help you get to know this reader (your ideal customer).
Once you have that person in mind and a full description about him/her/them ... give them a NAME (Robert, Julie, The Thompsons if a couple or family). You can also add an image if you are a visual learner. My ideal reader is an older female named Shirley. I have attached her profile below.
Keep the description in your notebook, folder, notes, or someplace you can frequently access it like your sacred writing space which I will discuss in the next article. When you start to write picture this person in your mind and write to them.
Post the NAME of your Reader/Avitar in the comments below.
